### Life and work

C215 is the working name of Christian Guemy, a French stencil artist born in 1973. He lives and works around Paris and has built his reputation with detailed, multi layer spray paint stencils, most often close portraits of people who are easy to overlook: homeless residents, refugees, elderly neighbours, migrants and street children, alongside occasional portraits of writers, musicians and political figures. Guemy works under the artist name C215 across cities in France and abroad, and his practice has moved steadily from walls and shutters into museum galleries. Between 2015 and 2024 French national institutions gave him solo rooms: the Musee des Arts et Metiers in Paris in 2015, the Pantheon in Paris in 2018, the Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget in 2019, the Musee de l'Ordre de la Liberation at the Invalides in 2022, the Musee de la Franc maconnerie in Paris in 2023 and the Inguimbertine museum in Carpentras in 2024.
